#MarchMeetTheMaker – Day 18

Mistake or lesson.

A mistake I made for a few years was comparing myself to others and treating my peers as ‘the Competition’. I’d be so worried about what they were doing, that it was better than my work, that I couldn’t do what they could, that they might ‘steal’ my ideas. It probably wasn’t until my last year at uni that I started to relax a little and actually see the vast, varied talent that these brilliant artists had and that we were all unique. Just look at this work! This isn’t everyone I studied with because I couldn’t fit it all in the photo but a big chunk of us here. Love y’all. We’re not competition, we’re in this weird egg and spoon race together.

I shouldn’t compare myself. Yet it still happens.

I quite adore what you do.

It’s difficult not to compare yourself but what you do is truly charming and lovely. Keep making! x
