#MarchMeetTheMaker – Day 21

Throwback.

I’ve just been looking back at custom dolls I’ve been commissioned to make over the years and found this one from two years ago. I was asked to make a doll of the Ripon Hornblower, an ancient tradition in the cathedral city, where a horn is blown on each corner of the marketplace every evening to ‘set the watch’. That ritual is still carried out at nine o’clock every night at the Obelisk and has not been missed, not for one night, in over 1100 years.
